The purpose of Bondale junction is twofold. One is to get the stock from York onto the main line. The other is for the Bustdale Colliery traffic. The junction itself will be hidden underneath Bustham station. When planned, the junction was to have been controlled from York, but realising the problems of the Y link to York, it now has its own panel. Rotary switches can select which controller can be used Main up and Down and Bustdale Up and Down.
The homemade overhead catenary system has been installed from the junction along Bustdale and to York. This is to enable more modern equipment can be run "Under the wires"
The main junction on the layout. Bondale. The points are still analogue, but will be easy to convert when I can get some more accessory decoders. There will also be a little bit of re-wiring as the connection to York is now the main electrical connection. An Automatic polarity reverser will be fitted between York and Bonton.
