LMS Streamlined Coronation Class. Based on the Princess Royal Class, the Directors of LMS wanted a streamlined locomotive to rival the LNER’s A4s. William Stanier being in India on assignment meant that the new locomotives were designed by Tom Coleman and were built between 1937 and 1938 and between 1939 and 1943 in streamlined form and batches were produced in 1938, 1944 and 1947 in non streamlined form. The last LMS locomotive to be built was 6256 and named after Sir William F Stanier. One more was built after nationalisation 46257.   This particular model, made by Hornby was not DCC ready and had to have the 8 pin decoder soldered on.
