6000 King George V. The first of the King class locomotives. 31 were built although one was a replacement for a scrapped loco following a collision, and using some parts from the scrapped loco. This model is in the as preserved condition. Hattons of Liverpool had announced in 2014 that they had commisioned a series of Kings from DJ Models. I put an order in for 6000 as it was the first steam loco to run in the UK under the Return To Steam Banner in 1971 following a 3 year ban by BR. Some months later Hornby released their version and the Hattons version was put on hold. As far as I know my order is still on the books, but I don’t think it will ever be completed, especially as DJ Models have now gone into administration. In the end I bought this Hornby model. While waiting I had found a 2nd King, that of 6029 King Stephen.
