The Deltic Prototype. This Bachmann model is of a loco which is part of the National Collection. Originally designed in the early 50s trials were carried out on the West Coast Main Line and the Settle And Carlisle line. The LMR’s general manager rejected it’s use and it was transferred to the East Coast Main line. After testing there along with a second Prototype (DP2) an order was placed for 22 production locos to replace 55 stea\m locos.
