Having had a few hours sleep, we were awake when the check-in opened. I had booked a later crossing, but they found a place for the car on the first flight of the day. That was fine until I tried to start the car. It wouldn’t. For some reason the starter solenoid had jammed, so with a couple of people giving me a push, the car was bump started and on to the hovercraft I went. As the crossing was bumpy, it must have freed off the solenoid as the car started easily at Dover. We spent a few hours at my aunt’s in Ashley near Dover, having got there so early that she was still in bed. Then went to where my brother was living at East Hanningfield, but he wasn’t there so we carried on to Steve’s dropped him off then came home after 3228 miles of travel.
Were we mad to do it? Yes, but it was fun. My thanks to Steve again for allowing me to use the photos. Now all I have to do is find mine, and the audio diary that I kept.
