This is the story of my first Grand Tour of Europe where I was a driver. I was accompanied on my travels by Steve who was a school friend of my brother. We travelled in a Ford Anglia De Luxe 105E with a 997 cc engine. To make the journey easier, I had transferred the gearbox from my brother’s 1200 Anglia Super 123E as it had an all synchro gearbox unlike mine which didn’t have synchro on 1st gear. The photos on this group of pages were all taken by Steve for which I give grateful thanks.

  After 44 years, our memories have faded a bit, but Steve has corrected me of a few I had wrong. The maps were created using Garmin Basecamp and the roads have changed a bit over those years, but the route is as accurate as I can make it.

  Since those days, I have gone over some of those roads again and others are still in the yet to do again box. Steve was put on my insurance, so the driving was shared a bit, although I drove over all the mountain passes.
