HOLIDAY 2019 - MONDAY 9th
With a couple of days being spent in Nauders, there is time to visit the Duty Free Zone at Samnaun. Topping up with petrol at about 75% of the price outside the area, the more I buy, the greater the saving. Then on for a drive over the Fluela and Albula Passes. A distance of 153 Miles bringing the total so far to 1,177 miles.
What a difference a day makes. I woke up and the sun was shining although it was a bit cold. While there was a possibility that the 2 passes I wanted to drive over were closed, I took a chance and set off. First to Samnaun for the Duty Free shopping and to fill the car up with petrol, Then into Switzerland and over the Fluela and Albula passes. A distance for the day of 155 Miles bringing the total so far to 1114. The snow was down to 2,000 metres, but the roads had been cleared. The temperature did drop down to 1 C at the higher altitudes, but with a sweatshirt on and the heater blowing, I was fine. Roof down of course.
The car park at the Fluela had been cleared. One of my little friends would have had a field day up there with so much snow to trash.
Unlike the Fluela, the car park at the top of the Albula hadn’t been cleared. Although with the sun on it, it was turning slushy.
The view across to the snow covered peaks in the evening on my return to the hotel in Nauders.
