A much shorter drive on day 2. From Heidelberg, following the Neckar valley, then down to Stuttgart, Garmisch and into Austria finishing just outside Innsbruck close to the Brenner road. Planned Distance 341 Miles 549 KM, Total 874 Miles 1406 Km
After breakfast I set off for Innsbruck. Crossing over the Neckar, I followed the North Bank to Heilbronn. Elsie (The Satnav) told me that there were delays and a quicker route was available. The one thing it wasn’t was quicker as it took me through the middle of Stuttgart on a Saturday morning. There were also a lot of roadworks between Stuttgart and Munich which added to the delay. I went wrong at Garmisch and ended up near the top of the Fern Pass. When I checked my position, I realised my mistake and back tracked. Finally arriving at the village of Igls at 6 PM I was a bit worried as there was as church outside my window. But the soundproofing was excellent and I never heard the bells. Even with, or maybe because of the diversions, I only did 335 Miles (539 KM) making a total so far of 887 Miles (1427 Km)
