4 - A Visitor Comes To Call

Hello, it’s me, Jess the News Hound is at it again. On Friday, I had my booster shots. Nanny and Leo came with me as well. I don’t think either of them needs any injections though.

I was ok when the needle went in to the back of my neck, but I didn’t like it when the vet pushed the plunger so that the inoculations go in.

I cried a bit and Leo was trying to find out what they were doing to me.

When I came out from the surgery, he was checking me all over, just to see that I was alright. When we got home, I had a little sleep in the kitchen. I was woken up by Leo barking in a friendly way. We had a visitor. It was Kiss, who had come to stay for the weekend and to see how I was getting on. He told Leo that he was a big star for looking after me, and playing together.

As the weather is nice, Leo and I spend a lot of time in the garden. Either chasing each other up and down the lawn, or exploring the edges of the garden. Because I’m so small, I can get right under some of the bushes, and I try and hide from Leo, but he always seems to find me. Some of the trees seem gigantic to me. While I’m investigating things, Leo is always keeping an eye out so no nasty things can get at me.

When we’ve finished playing in the garden, I sometimes have a rest on my bed in the front room. It has some of my toys in it, so that I have something to cuddle up to. But I am getting a bit big for it now, and there is getting to be not enough room for me and my toys.

Kiss stayed until Sunday. But while he was here, I got loads of cuddles from him. He is always very gentle with me, and I remember how he talked to me and comforted me when they came to collect me. The problem is, I don’t like going in the car when he is not there, and I always moan about it.

Anyway he took loads of pictures of both me and Leo while he was here, and he has let me use some of them for my diary.

What else do I have to report? Ah yes, my fur is starting to go a lighter colour. Linda thinks that I am going to be as light as my daddy, Scooby. Kiss says that it is a shame, and that I will have to dye my fur, because he loves the colour of it.

That is all I have time for now. I will write again in a couple of weeks when I have some more stories to tell, and pictures to show. And by then I will be able to go out into the big wide world. Kiss says he is looking forward to taking the pair of us to the paper shop on a Saturday morning, even though he will probably have to carry me part of the way.
