HOLIDAY 2019 - SUNDAY 8th
Heading towards one of my favourite hotels, in Nauders near the Swiss and Italian borders. Because when I started planning this, some of the mountain pass roads were closed, the distance is a guestimate. The plan is to go over the Brenner Pass, then the Passo Giovano (Jauffen Pass) then the Timmelsjoch Pass, down past Sölden to the Inn valley, follwing it until I reach the road to the Reschen Pass. Distance 150 Miles, 241 KM, Total 1024 Miles 1648 KM.
Waking up on the Sunday morning, the sky was grey and it was raining. While checking out of the hotel, the Receptionist put a live view of the Timmelsjoch toll booth up on the screen for me. It was snowing heavily and the road was white. So I scrapped that day’s plans and made my way directly to Nauders. By the time I left the Inn valley at Kajetensbruck, it was sleeting which had turned to snow by Nauders. I was greeted with a nice smile, and a “Hello, nice to see you again. Your room is ready.” I went up to my room then back to the car by which time the boot was white. That turned out to be the only day when I had to have the roof up on the whole trip. Because of the snow, I only did 72 Miles Total 959. The hotel has since changed it’s name and can be found here Hotel Vaya Nauders But I hope the service is the same.
A quick beer, then I sat down to watch the Italian Grand Prix.
The view from my balcony with the snow settling on the fields.
